New Delhi, May 11 : Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee today adjourned proceedings of the House till Monday in the memory of the 1857 martyrs.
The proceedings were adjourned on the unanimous request of members.
As soon the House met for the day, Basudeb Acharia (CPM) stood up and requested the Speaker to adjourn the house in deference to the memory of the freedom fighters of 1857.
The request was also supported by Devendra Prasad Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and others members of the house.
Describing himself as a servant of the House, Chatterjee adjourned proceedings.
