Dikshits remarks on Delhi migration, rocks Parliament

Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshits remarks over continued inflow of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh into Delhi caused a furore in the Lok Sabha today.

New Delhi, May 10 : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's remarks over continued inflow of people from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh into Delhi caused a furore in the Lok Sabha today.

Opposition Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP) members were joined by Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) members in their demand for Dikshit's resignation over the issue.

The SP members raised anti- Dikshit slogans, while the RJD members led by Devendra Prasad Yadav demanded her resignation.

BJP members led by Shahnawaz Hussain also protested.

Speaker Somanth Chaterjee tried to maintain order in the house stating that Dikshit had already tendered an apology for her remark.

His repeated requests, however went in vain as the members continued to shout slogans, leading to an adjournment of the proceedings.
