The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed that it had busted a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) module that was involved in several militancy-related incidents.

Srinagar, May 01 : The Jammu and Kashmir Police today claimed that it had busted a Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) module that was involved in several militancy-related incidents.

The unit was operating under the name of Siddiq Group and comprised 13 Lashkar activists, including a woman, Kashmir Inspector General of Police (IGP) S M Sahai told reporters.

Sahai further added that the group was involved in at least ten militant attacks and was functioning under the command of Lashkar militant Tahir, who was active in Pattan and other areas of Kashmir.

Three AK rifles, 12 magazines, 100 AK rounds, four pouches, two pistols with magazines and as many hand grenades were seized from the group, he added.

Apart from a grenade attack on the house of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq the chairman of the moderate faction of the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC), the group was also found to be involved in grenade attacks on APHC headquarter at Rajbagh, Sahai said.

The group was also responsible for killing of a police constable at Soura, firing on advocate Sheeda and several other militant attacks, he added.
