With speculations making rounds that lower denominations coins were not in circulation any more, the Centre on Tuesday denied this, saying coins of all denominations should be accepted by all. The Finance Ministry said that it has been brought to their notice that certain organizations and other agencies were not accepting coins of lower denominations such as 25 paise on the plea that the same were not in circulation any more.

New Delhi, May 1 : With speculations making rounds that lower denominations coins were not in circulation any more, the Centre on Tuesday denied this, saying coins of all denominations should be accepted by all. The Finance Ministry said that it has been brought to their notice that certain organizations and other agencies were not accepting coins of lower denominations such as 25 paise on the plea that the same were not in circulation any more.

"It is clarified that Government of India have not stopped circulation of any coin of any denomination and coins of all denominations should be accepted by all and sundry," said a Ministry release.
