Nawid, Rubal and Indy are all set to release their debut album 'Gallan' on Tips. In a more artistic way NRI also symbolizes the band's music which is Novel, Rustic & Innovative.
"It is not about talent, it's about bringing ideas together & when we look back we never thought we would get so far"says NRI.
It all began when Rubal met Nawid in New York & introduced him to bhangra music & since Indy was also interested in bhangra, the three of them teamed up to become NRI. NRI began with music production for jingles, bands etc. and subsequently set up a website where they uploaded a promotional track which they felt would be the lead track in their forthcoming debut album
The album has is a collection of 10 club tracks with a new style made popular by the Asian based artist Raghav and features stars like Amar Arshi, Lembher Hussainpuri, Sumeet & Sir Aah.
The lyrics have been written by Late Mastana Singh, Sharmila, Keshav and NRI. The audio cassettes & CD's are priced at Rs. 65/- & Rs. 160/- respectively. The video of 'Gallan' is directed by Julius Packiam, and has been shot in New York.
About NRI:
Nawid
Nawid was born in Kabul and later moved to Germany. His only source to his culture was Hindi Cinema. He met Rubal when he moved to New York, Here he was introduced Bhangra and today he is also into, RnB,and Reggae and dreams of fusing bhangra with Persian music. NRI's second album wil have rhythms composed by Nawid.
Rubal
Rubal was born in New Delhi and grew up in New York. At the age of seven, he started playing piano without taking any music lesons., His father and grand father were excellent at playing the harmonium, tabla and other instruments. Nawid had a keen interest in bhangra music and when he met Nawid with similar interests, the two of them decided to take their passion for this genre of music further.
Indy
Indy was born in Punjab and grew up in New York; He always had a keen interest in Dhol. He used to listen only to Punjabi music, till he moved to New York. At new York, he was exposed to a completely new style of music. His main interest lies in old school bhangra music which NRI is subsequently plans to work on.
