Thousands of AIADMK workers arrested in Tamil Nadu

Thousands of AIADMK supporters, who have been protesting against DMKs alleged defamatory comments against their leader Jayalalithaa, have been arrested across Tamil Nadu.

Chennai, June 7 : Thousands of AIADMK supporters, who have been protesting against DMK's alleged "defamatory comments" against their leader Jayalalithaa, have been arrested across Tamil Nadu.

Jayalalithaa, who is in Hyderabad for the formation of a third front, had warned that her party would not stand such remarks.

AIADMK workers condemning DMK's references to Jayalalithaa said they would continue their protests if such remarks went on.

The AIADMK-DMK row came out on the streets after the DMK Government issued notice to the AIADMK to demolish a portion of party headquarters in Chennai that allegedly violated the building rules.

In reply, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK chief M Karunanidhi said that the demolition notice was based on from a court order and his government had nothing to do with it.
