Hundreds of representatives of political parties and civil society groups protested in front of the White House demanding an end to the armys rule in Pakistan.

Washington, June 5 : Hundreds of representatives of political parties and civil society groups protested in front of the White House demanding an end to the army's rule in Pakistan.

Major political parties of Pakistan, including the PPP, PML-N and Tehrik-e-Insaaf were duly represented at the protest meet. The rain also couldn't dampen the spirit of protetors who came from far off places like New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, West Virginia, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Civil society was represented by groups like the Asian American Network for Abuse of Human Rights (AANA), the Sindhi Association of North America (SANA), plus several others. Prominent persons who addressed the demonstration were Dr Amna Buttar, Dr Ghazala Kazi and Zaffar Iqbal.

The demonstrators paraded up and down in front of the White House and raised anti-Musharraf and pro-democracy slogans. The protestors other demands were free and fair conduct of elections under an interim government and full restoration of democracy in Pakistan.

Another similar rally is set to take place in Brooklyn, New York on June16 followed by a rally in Manhattan the next day. Imran Khan is expected to attend the Manhattan rally.
