At least six people, including a woman were injured in a grenade blast in Srinagar on Monday.
Srinagar, June 4 : At least six people, including a woman were injured in a grenade blast in Srinagar on Monday.
Police said the grenade was aimed at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp in Srinagar, but it missed its target injuring the pedestrians.
So far no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
"The aim of the attack was definitely the CRPF camp but luckily it missed the target," said Kirpal Singh, commanding officer of CRPF.
The injured were rushed to a local hospital where condition of one person was said to be critical.
"In the morning I was just about to open my shop when the blast took place. I don't know who brought me to the hospital," said Rouf Ahmed, an injured shopkeeper.
The incident took place barely a week after three policemen and eight suspected militants were killed in explosions and clashes across Kashmir.
Insurgency has flared up in Kashmir in recent weeks after the onset of summer, as it allows easier movement of militants across the Himalayan region, officials said.
