Dharamshala, June 4 : Dharamshala, which is known for its Buddhist culture, is attracting a large number of yoga enthusiasts, especially foreign tourists.
Meditation centres are thriving in McLeodganj, Dharamkot and Bhagsunag.
One such centre is the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Center in Dharamkot which has been training foreigners in yoga for the last five years.
There are many yoga enthusiasts who intend to learn yoga so that they can teach it back home. Others wish to learn it simply to lead life their lives in a better way.
"I have already taught yoga in my country. And, I am here to learn it in a better way to improve," said Dittmar, a German tourist.
"By learning yoga I have felt a big difference in myself. You know a lot about how you carry yourself and what kind of health-related problems we face. We learn how they are interconnected with the mind as well," said Laura, a Canadian tourist.
Various yoga centres here provide opportunity to register online.
"I am sure all including me will be interested to have such a guru who can tell us the right way and the scientific way to do things which is suitable for us," said Shishu Patial, a yoga follower, taking lessons under yoga guru Sharat Arora.
These centres are also offering special courses for all those who intend to set up their own centres at their native places.
Several yogic postures like "Ashtanga" for purifying the body and "Pranayama" for breath control and meditation are some of the main yogic techniques being taught here.
