Lucknow, June 27 : Bahujan Samaj Party general secretary and Uttar Pradesh Minister S C Mishra is all set to resign from the state's cabinet in order to garner upper caste vote for the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, UP Chief Minister Mayawat said here today.

"Mishra never wanted to join the ministry and I too had assigned him the task of garnering the support of the upper castes in the country for the Lok Sabha polls, but I later changed my decision," Mayawati told reporters.

"I decided to keep Mishra here for a few months as any new government needs legal advice, especially in the beginning," she added.

The Chief Minister also said that Mishra came to her help when Kanshi Ram (BSP founder) had a stroke, the Taj case was there and the BSP MLAs in UP were leaving the party.

Commenting on the recent media reports of her assets, she said that party workers contribution helped her raise assets of rupees 52 crore.
