A Sessions Court here today will pronounce the quantum of sentences on 14 persons, who were guilty of massacring 116 Muslims in the communal riots, that rocked the district on October 27, 1989.
Bhagalpur, June 27 : A Sessions Court here today will pronounce the quantum of sentences on 14 persons, who were guilty of massacring 116 Muslims in the communal riots, that rocked the district on October 27, 1989.
All theses deaths had taken place at Logain village, on the outskirts of Bhagalpur.
In the prolonged trial, six under trails have died and four others have escaped.
More than 200 people have so far been awarded punishment in various cases related to the Bhagalpur riots. It was one of the worst communal riots in terms of people killed with officials putting the toll well over 1,000.
