New Delhi, June 24 : The Communist Party of India (Marxist) today lambasted Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and BJP for churning out false allegations against UPA-Left Presidential nominee Pratibha Patil just before the elections.
Criticising the RSS-BJP for their "proactive slander machinery to spring into action on such occasions", CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury said that such acts of the right wing groups only reflected their 'desperation' since their candidate's defeat is certain.
Coming out in full support of Patil, Yechury said that there was no truth in the allegations that their Presidential nominee's name figured in either Jalgaon murder case or in the defaulters list. e also said that the Polit Bureau of the party did not discuss the issue of Vice President's candidature and added that deliberations over it would be held later since the elections for it would be held in August.
