Farmers in Jammu today protested against the imposition of two percent tax on vegetables.
Jammu, June 23 : Farmers in Jammu today protested against the imposition of two percent tax on vegetables.
Giridhari Lal, President of the local whole sale vegetable market, said vendors wanted the Government to cancel the tax on vegetables.
"The People's Democratic Party (PDP) wants people to fight with each other. In doing politics, they want to use us otherwise for them three-four crore rupees is nothing. They have left crores of rupees previously," said Lal.
Lal also said farmers grow vegetables by toiling in the cold as well as under the hot sun. These hardships can't be overlooked by the authorities, he contended.
Most farmers have termed the tax on vegetables as unjustified.
