Five gunmen attacked Indores Mhow jail today in which one inmate was killed. Two jail officials and two visitors were injured in the attack.
Indore, June 23 : Five gunmen attacked Indore's Mhow jail today in which one inmate was killed. Two jail officials and two visitors were injured in the attack.
The injured have been admitted in the city's M Y Hospital for treatment.
According to sources, Vijay Nagar arrived in the jail along with his four gunmen to meet a jail inmate.
As soon as they entered the jail premises, they opened fire on Jail Superintendent Hari Prasad Sharma and forcibly entered the visiting area of the jail
Jeetu Thakur, a convict in a murder case was talking with his visitors Rajendra Bhar and Ajay Sharma in the visiting area.
Gunmen began to fire indiscriminately targeting Jeetu Thakur, who died on the spot.
Four others including, jail officials Hari Prasad Sharma, Shailendra and visitors Rajendra and Ajay were injured in the attack.
According to reports, the assailants fled away with one of their associate Ashok Maratha, a jail inmate.
Police have launched a search operation to arrest the assailants, but so far they have not received any information about them.
