At least twelve passengers were killed and 21 others injured when a private bus plunged into a gorge in Kainchimode area in Dharamsala on late Wednesday night.The bus, carrying 34 passengers, was on its way to Vaishno Devi from Delhi when the accident took place between 11.30 p.m. and 12 a.m.
Dharamsala, June 21 : At least twelve passengers were killed and 21 others injured when a private bus plunged into a gorge in Kainchimode area in Dharamsala on late Wednesday night.The bus, carrying 34 passengers, was on its way to Vaishno Devi from Delhi when the accident took place between 11.30 p.m. and 12 a.m.
Eleven passengers died on the spot while one succumbed to his injuries at a government hospital in Dharamsala, police said. Other fifteen injured are undergoing treatment at the government hospital and six have been admitted to PGI Hospital in Chandigarh.
Police said that the driver lost control of the vehicle while it was negotiating a curve.
According to media reports, one passenger is still missing and search operation is on.
Transport Minister G S Bali has announced a relief package of Rs 25,000 for the families of the deceased. He expressed grief over the tragedy.
