The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for a centrally sponsored scheme of Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship to students belonging to minority communities.
New Delhi, June 21 : The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today gave its approval for a centrally sponsored scheme of Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship to students belonging to minority communities.
The scheme will be launched during the financial year 2007-08 targeting 20,000 scholarships per annum.
Students from the minority communities fulfilling the merit-cum-means criteria and pursuing professional or technical courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in institutes recognized by the appropriate authorities will be eligible for this scholarship.
The scheme has the potential to lift the economic condition of minority communities, which in turn, will contribute to the economic development of the country.
The scheme would be implemented by the State and Union Territory Governments.
