Youth activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have protested against the ban on coconuts and garlands as offerings at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai.
Mumbai, June 20 : Youth activists of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have protested against the ban on coconuts and garlands as offerings at the famous Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai.
Priests on Monday asked devotees not to bring coconuts and garlands as offerings for fear that terrorists may hide bombs in them.
Police say they have specific intelligence about a possible attack on the temple, which receives thousands of worshippers every day.
Bollywood celebrities, sport stars and politicians often visit the temple to seek blessings from Lord Ganesh.
"It is the question of every devotee's faith. Temple officials are going against our faith. We would continue to protest against the imposed ban," said Poonam Mahajan, a leader of party's youth wing.
Siddhivinayak temple already has a bullet-proof wall surrounding it.
