A British company has selected a 14-year-old Jharkhand tribal archer as its official ambassador for the 2012 London Olympics.

Saraikela (Jharkhand), June 19 : A British company has selected a 14-year-old Jharkhand tribal archer as its official ambassador for the 2012 London Olympics.

Mangal Ho, hailing from Patahatu village of Jharkhand, is among the 15 children chosen from around the world to receive sponsorship from the British Company, G 4 Securicor for 2012 Olympics to be held in London.

The sponsorship has entitled Mangal about five hundred thousands rupees every year for six months, as he hones his skills to represent the country in the event.

The president of the state's archery association has commended the commitment of the boy and is positive of his prospects.

"He will have access to better equipment, he can go out to other countries to play," Archery Association of Jharkhand's President Sanjeev Singh said.

Mangal, who is practising hard for the event is aiming for a gold medal for his country.

"I have been placed in the group four of the teen programme. I will win gold and make my country proud," said Mangal Ho.

Manda Sigdha, a rifle shooter from Andhra Pradesh is the other Indian who has been chosen for the sponsorship.

The UK Company has selected children of the age group 14-18 from 12 countries worldwide. Of the 15 children selected, six each are from Asian and Africa, two from South America and one from Europe.
