New Delhi, June 18 : Many of us crave to eat Phulkas or, puffed chapattis even if it's late at night or when one has taken ill. Defence Research and Development Organisations (DRDO) scientists have developed a technique that can preserve ready to serve chapattis with minimum efforts.
Developed at the Life Sciences Laboratories in Mysore, the technique includes use of certain preservatives to preserve and stabilize this popular Indian wheat-based staple.
These partially baked chapattis are stabilised by incorporation of certain anti-mycotic, anti-staling and softening agents.
Baking over a flame or hot plate renders them ready to serve as hot phulkas.
The technique could be an immense help for working people or even housewives feeling short of energy any day.
The process is fairly simple and adaptable by any small-scale entrepreneur.
