Tummi Nanavare and Syed Asif Ali Win the Castrol Power1 Throttle Max Challenge

Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India

Excitement reigned supreme today as the city of Indore saw the grand culmination of this year's premiere biking event, the Castrol Power1 Throttle Max challenge. Tummi Nanavare and Syed Asif Ali, fought off tough competition to emerge as India's most skillful riders. The two Castrol Power1 Throttle Max Champions will now accompany Castrol's brand ambassador, actor John Abraham, to Malaysia in October 2007, where they will witness the Malaysian Moto GP.

The Castrol Power1 Throttle Max challenge, now in its second year, is a test of skill and control. The 10 preliminary events held across the country attracted around 600 avid bikers. The test was held over three different courses - an open straight stretch on dirt track, obstacle course and a wiggle-woggle section. Four winners from each city - two from the 125 cc category and two from the 126-250 cc category qualified for the national finals.

Thirty-six hardcore bikers from across the nation battled it out on the specially designed track at Nehru Stadium for the title of India's most skillful rider. What added to the spirit of these riders was the endless cheering from a closely packed stadium despite the 70 m dash being cancelled due to heavy rain.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. A S Ramchander - Director Marketing, Castrol India Limited, said, "Castrol has a long and glorious association with motorsports ever since the inception of the sport. More motorsport championships have been won on Castrol than any other oil. A brand like Castrol Power1 with its unique power releasing formula, meets the demanding requirements of high performance machines you saw on display today, operating in tough and testing conditions."

Shortly after crowning the two champions, Brand Ambassador for Castrol Power1, John Abraham said, "I would like to commend the spirit of all the bikers who participated in the Castrol Power1 Throttle Max Challenge here today and displayed an exemplary performance of skill and control. I am glad that Castrol has held this challenge for the second year and also increased the number of preliminary events so as to encourage the talent and skill of all passionate bikers. I would also like to congratulate the two champions of the Castrol Power1Throttle Max challenge who fought a tough battle, to make it to the top. The Malaysian Moto GP, I am sure is an experience that they are looking forward to. Finally, being a passionate biker myself, I would like to emphasize that with Castrol Power1, you will always get maximum throttle."

Elated at his victory, Syed Asif, winner of the 250 cc category said, "This is a moment of great pride and joy for me to win the title of India's most skillfull rider. Going to the world's best motorbiking race, the Moto GP is what fuelled my inspiration to practice hard and chisel my riding skills to perfection. This is a dream come true for every biker and I would like to thank Castrol for giving me this opportunity to showcase my skills and to go to the Moto GP. I am really excited"!

Tummi Nanavare , who won the upto 125cc category, echoed similar sentiments. Speaking to the media shortly after the event, Tummi said, "I have loved every moment of the Castrol Power1 Throttle Max Challenge. It took a lot of grit and determination to make it to the top and win the coveted title. I can't wait to go to Malaysia to watch the Moto GP live and I can't thank Castrol enough for this."
