New Delhi, June 16 : In a dramatic development, Vice President Bhairon Singh Sekhawat, who is gearing to throw a challenge to the UPA-Left's presidential nominee Pratibha Devisingh Patil , went to meet his opponent at the Jodhpur House this evening.
Accompanied with Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia, Sekhawat had a 15-minute brief meeting with Patil, where they reportedly exchanged greetings.
Earlier, in the day Patil had said that she would be meeting Sekhawat, who belongs to the same region from where Patil's husband hails.
Meanwhile, BJP today reaffirmed that Sekhawat would be contesting the Presidential polls as a 'neutral candidate'."Pratibha Patil is UPA's choice under compulsion. She is not a natural choice," senior BJP leader Sushma Swaraj told reporters, adding, "No consensus is possible on UPA's presidential candidate, because the very basis of nomination for the Presidential election is not correct. For the Congress, loyalty to the Gandhi family has been the main condition for the nomination while for the Left, the criteria has been the survival of the UPA."
