Shilong, June 16 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee is visiting Shilong today to give a boost to the New Delhi's Look-East policy.
Mukherjee will deliver a speech on "The Look-East Policy - Geography as Opportunity".
According to the External Affairs Ministry, this visit is being seen as a curtain raiser to the Minister's forthcoming visit to Singapore and Indonesia.
While speaking on the Look-East policy in the North-East, Mukherjee will underline the geographical contiguity of the northeast particularly with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries.
The Look-East policy and its spinoffs are expected to have a direct impact on the people of the North-East.
