New Delhi, June 16 : Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on Saturday called for speedy rehabilitation of those affected in the December 2004 tsunami disaster.

Chairing the Island Development Authority meeting here, he said that the 11th Five Year Plan will focus on a balanced development of Lakshadweep and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

He further asked the Cabinet Secretary to monitor all inter-Ministerial issues on a quarterly basis to ensure that the Centre is proactive in dealing with problems of infrastructure development, human development and disaster management in the islands.

Singh also asked Union Minister for Shipping T R Baalu to ensure early delivery of maritime infrastructure, including ships, at Port Blair.
