Agartala, June 15 : When everyone had gathered at the Tripura Board of Secondary Examination office to know about the class X board results, Suraj Debbarma was busy studying books of class XI in his cell in the jail here.
Suraj Debbarma, who is just to cross a year of his long ten year's rigorous imprisonment in the Central Jail Agartala, is very happy as he is just seven number less than a first class in class X board examination.
Suraj, a resident of Jirania area in West Tripura district had come to the jail ten months back.
Had the jailer authority not taken the initiative to make arrangement to get the permission from the government as well as the board it was impossible for Suraj to continue his education. Moreover, his fellow inmates also helped him a lot.
Suraj thanked some of his fellow inmates without whose guidance it was impossible for him alone to score such good marks.
"I am very happy but my happiness would have been double had my family members were there to share my happiness.
However, now my fellow inmates are my family members and the jail authority my guardian," he said.
Suraj said that earlier due to the tension of the case, he could not concentrate on his studies. But in the jail he could do so as he had nothing else but to prepare for his examination.
Jailer Santosh, who is very happy with Suraj's achievement, Suraj is an example for other inmates in the jail.
Santosh also informed that the jail authority shall propose to decrease the tenure of Suraj's imprisonment.
Suraj now want to continue his studies in the Arts stream with History and English.
