Delhi will get 90 per cent of the power generated from the 980 MW second phase of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Project in Dadri, in view of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said today.
New Delhi, June 15 : Delhi will get 90 per cent of the power generated from the 980 MW second phase of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Project in Dadri, in view of the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said today.
Uttar Pradesh will get remaining 10 per cent of the power generated, he added.
This was stated by Shinde while laying the foundation stone of the State II-2X490 MW units of NTPC Dadri in Gautam Budh Nagar today.
Shinde said that with this the total power generating capacity of the Dadri Project will rise to 2,650 MW from 1,670 MW.
He further said that the project has played a significant role in power supply to the Northern Region and in overall development of the area.
Shinde said that a roadmap has been drafted to achieve the target of more than 78,000 MW during the 11th Plan.
He said that sufficient power availability is needed as the country is set to achieve nine to ten per cent economic growth in the next few years.
The Power Ministry is giving priority to capacity addition, distribution reforms and rural electrification to achieve the target of "electricity for all by 2012".
