Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate would be supported by his party.

New Delhi, June 14 : Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar has said that the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) candidate would be supported by his party.

After meeting with Communist Party of India (CPI) leaders on Wednesday evening, Pawar said that his party will support the UPA candidate for the President's post and will do everything to help him win.

The voting to elect the 13th President will be held on July 19 and counting is scheduled for July 21.

The notification for the election will be issued on June 16. The last date for filing of nominations is June 30. The scrutiny will take place on July 2 and last date of withdrawal will be July 4. The counting of votes will take place on July 21.

The term of office of the present President A P J Abdul Kalam is upto July 24.
