The Madras High Court (HC) today directed the Election Commission (EC) to take action as per law on a complaint that former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief Jayalalitha had filed a false affidavit during the 2001 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
Chennai, June 13 : The Madras High Court (HC) today directed the Election Commission (EC) to take action as per law on a complaint that former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) chief Jayalalitha had filed a "false affidavit" during the 2001 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls.
The High Court gave the order after admitting a petition filed by the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam MP C Kuppusamy.
In his petition, Kuppusamy has said that Jayalalithaa had suppressed the fact that she had filed nominations from four seats during 2001 Assembly polls.
