Over 70 blackbucks have perished in rising floodwaters in Gujarat.
Bhavnagar (Gujarat), July 6 : Over 70 blackbucks have perished in rising floodwaters in Gujarat.
The dead animals were recovered from the Bari and Savia Nagar areas, which surround the Velavadar National Park in the state's Bhavnagar District.
B. L. Barodawala, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Bhavnagar, said that the animal death toll in the 35 square kilometre park could increase as large tracts of land in and around the sanctuary are still waterlogged.
At least 84 people have died in rain-related incidents in Gujarat over the last four days.
The downpour has been especially heavy in the central and northern parts of the state. Thousands have been shifted from their low-lying homes to higher places.
