"We are pleased by the depth and scope that our expanding hotel portfolio is taking in India," said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging of Marriott International.

"Our goal is to appeal to a wide range of travelers, both those visiting India from abroad as well as local travelers within India and we are confident that the portfolio that we, along with our local investors and partners, are building will be appreciated for their sophisticated amenities as well as for providing good value—whether at the luxury, upscale or upper-moderate segments of the travel continuum," he continued.

"Most of all, we are excited to be part of India's emergence as an economic and tourism leader in Asia and plan to continue doing our part to help the communities in which we are located and to be the kind of company that people want to work for," he said, noting the "best employer" accolades earned earlier this year by the Marriott hotels in India.

Mr. Fuller indicated that Marriott International expects to announce additional hotels for India in the near future. "We recently opened a development office in New Delhi whose only goal is to grow our representation in India," he said.
