Commenting on the political situtation in Goa, where Congress-led Government has been reduced to minority and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has staked claim to form government, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said that in such a fragile majority uncertainty prevails.

Thimpu/New Delhi, July 28 : Commenting on the political situtation in Goa, where Congress-led Government has been reduced to minority and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has staked claim to form government, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today said that in such a "fragile" majority "uncertainty prevails".
Mukherjee, who is in Bhutan to sign a pact on a hydroelectric power project, in an impromptu talk with reporters said: "Goa uncertainty is going on. That was a fragile majority. With this type of thin majority, uncertainty prevails."
Congress had formed the government with 16 legislators and support from three of NCP, two of MGP, and two independents legislators after it emerged the largest party in June 2 Goa Assembly elections.
"The ruling combination must prove its majority. Unless there is majority nobody can run the Government," Mukherjee said, adding that "Let us see, what ultimately happens in the trial of strength on the Floor of the Assembly".
He said that Goa Governor S C Jamir is studying the situation on the issue and would be in a position to take a collective decision.
Meanwhile, the BJP today paraded 20 Goa MLAs supporting it in the 40-member State Assembly before President Pratibha Patil, to prove majority in the House.
The BJP has formed the Goa Democratic Alliance (GDA) comprising of two legislators of the Maharashtra Gomantak Party (MGP), two of Save Goa Front (SGF), one of United Goans Democratic Party (UGDP) and an independent legislator, apart from 14 BJP legislators.
On Friday, BJP leader and former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar called on Governor S.C. Jamir in Panaji and staked claim to form government.
