Freemont, (USA) July 21 : Jasvir Gill, an NRI who proved his mettle abroad and is now a well-known face in the 'Silicon Valley', foresees Chandigarh as the IT hub of North India. Gill, recently sold his company "Virsa System" to German software major SAP, a leader in enterprise applications.
The deal not only made Gill a multi millionaire, but helped him to enlist his name among a group of successful Indians abroad.
Virsa specializes in software to enable companies to be in compliance with Sarbanes-Oxely and other government regulations.
After the successful venture of Virsa, Gill floated another IT company "Sufi" (Start Up Farms International) to explore the future of software industries in the world.Gill now plans to set up a branch of his newly floated "SUFI" at Chandigarh and a business house. He is also persuading other big IT houses to set up business in Chandigarh.
While giving credit for his success to his wife Kaval, Gill said: "I am little more of an optimist, and my wife always acquainta me with the realities of life".
Recalling his days in the US, Gill said: "This land has been providing opportunities to those who have talent. I came here for exposure, as there was less opportunity in Punjab in those days.
I found that "if one has business ethics, one can be a successful businessman here", he added.Gill believes that Chandigarh can be converted into a "Silicon Valley".He said NRIs could change the face of Punjab by investing in the State. He also said there is a need to educate our youth "how to do fishing than to providing them fish".
