Agartala, July 25 : Members of an association of Bangladeshi tour operators arrived here on Wednesday to explore the prospect of the tourism related business.
The 12-member team lead by Hassan Monsoor, President of Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) informed that tourism industry is one of the fastest growing sector, and the northeast States of India and Bangladesh can benefit by proper utilization of the tourism potential of this region.
The association is planning to organize tourism fair at Bangladesh capital Dhaka in September where Tripura will be invited to showcase its tourism potential.
Talking to reporters at Akhaura Check Post, Monsoor said that Tripura played a vital role in the liberation of Bangladesh and thus can be a place of tourist interest to the Bangladesh.
"How the relation (between India and Bangladesh) was earlier, I don't know. But now it is improving. Moreover, we have realized that development can only be achieved when we go for regional cooperation," Monsoor added.
The team would be meetings with State Tourism Minister Anil Sarkar, government officials and tour operators of Tripura during their visit.
The association would press for transit visa for tourists to tap the full potential of Tripura and other northeast States.
On Thursday, the team will visit tourist spots like Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary, Kamalasagar and Tepania Eco Tourist, which will be followed by their visit to neighbouring State Meghalaya.
