In a bid to promote tourism among the domestic as well as international travellers, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni today launched a new e-Commerce platform on its Incredible India website.
New Delhi, July 25 : In a bid to promote tourism among the domestic as well as international travellers, Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni today launched a new e-Commerce platform on its Incredible India website.
Launching the platform here today, Ambika Soni said there is no doubt that the web based enabled services in tourism will strengthen the industry and empower the customers.
She said it will facilitate customers to communicate directly with the agencies, tour operators, hotels and Bed and Breakfast establishment 24 hours a day and many of these service providers have become registered members of the online e-commerce platform.
www.incredibleindia.org and technology partner EVIIVO will now be offering online booking services for a range of accommodation businesses across India, enabling international and domestic tourists to use the services by searching on the homepage and complete their transactions in dollars or rupees.
"Amongst the niche tourism products, medical tourism should be brought on the e-Commerce platform. The medical tourism market in the country is estimated at 333 million dollars in 2004 and grew by about 25 percent and it is predicted to become a two billion dollar-a-year business opportunity by 2012," the Minister said.
The e-commerce platform has been jointly developed by the Ministry of Tourism, and the EVIIVO.
The main objective of this platform is to facilitate SME (Small and Medium Entrepreneur) to be on a global network to promote online sale without any committed investment.
Various State Governments like Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh have shown interest to use this platform to promote and sale their tourism products.
`Incredible India' is a Tourism Ministry initiative to showcase India's rich tradition and culture.
