More than one million people in parts of Bihar have been affected by floods with roads between Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon being virtually wiped out.

Patna/Agartala, July 22 : More than one million people in parts of Bihar have been affected by floods with roads between Bhagalpur and Kahalgaon being virtually wiped out.

The districts of Bhagalpur, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Saharsa and Supaul are the worst affected by the floods.

According to State water resources department, water level of most of the rivers, including Punpun, Bagmati, Kosi and Adhwara group, were rising and some of them crossed the danger mark in some places.

Water Resources Minister Ramashray Prasad Singh has asked senior officials to take precautionary measures to ensure all vital embankments are protected.

The State Government has also sought help from the Centre.

Meanwhile, over 2,000 families have been displaced in Tripura's south district by floods caused due to incessant rains.

While, the Gomati River is flowing above the danger level in Udaipur and Amarpur subdivisions, the Muburi River is flowing near the danger mark in Belonia subdivision.

Nearly 30 relief camps have been set up across the three subdivisions.

All four districts of the state have been experiencing rain and thunder showers for the past two days.

All district administrations have been put on alert.
