A case has been registered against a jeweller -- Kailash Jain -- for allegedly carrying out illegal structural modifications at a store owned by him on the ground floor of the Borivali building that collapsed on Wednesday and led to the deaths of 29 people.Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) Suresh Khopde confirmed the registration of a case against Jain, the owner of the Vardhaman Jewellery store.He also said that Jain had lost three of his relatives in the tragedy, and would be arrested after completing funereal rituals.

Earlier, rescue operations were brought to an end on the third day following the building collapse on Friday. Rescuers were working round the clock to retrieve the trapped people from the debris till a couple of hours ago. The total number of injured people has been pegged at 15.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has ordered three separate inquiries into the incident and ordered a compensation of one lakh rupees for the kin of those killed and 50, 000 for the injured.
