Japanese artistes brought their culture closer to India with their stage performances here.
Bhubaneswar, July 19 : Japanese artistes brought their culture closer to India with their stage performances here.
A troupe of 50 Japanese artistes gave a pulsating performance of Kagura, a performance of ancient and sacred Japanese music and dance.
Organised by Osaka-based Indo-Japan Friendship Club, two troupes -- Nara-based Yamato Shishi Taike and Iwami Kagura Nishimura Kagura Syachu - gave their musical presentations.
The show started with a drum performance followed by a traditional 'Dragon Dance'.
Hidaka, a Japanese artiste, said: "We have brought two forms of Kagura here. It is slightly similar to Indian culture. Indian people will get to know about our culture through our performance and we would also be happy to connect with them."
The two-hour musical extravaganza left the audience captivated by the sheer beauty of the animated performance.
"The Japanese dance is very energetic. It takes your mind in some different dimension. I really liked this performance," said Sumit Singh, a spectator.
The troupe will travel to other parts of the country in a bid to bridge people-to-people contact through cultural exchanges.
