New Delhi, July 13 : The Congress party has been accused of threatening the Dera Sacha Sauda chief and forcing him to support the Congress candidates in this year's Punjab Assembly elections.
According to a website, the Dera chief is facing rape and murder charges, and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has strong evidence to against him. Seeing this as an opportunity to get Dera's support in the assembly polls, former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and Union Tourism Minister Ambika Soni blackmailed him.
The two leaders are said to have assured the Dera chief that if he supported the Congress candidates then the CBI would not take up the case. Otherwise he would be arrested.
Politicsparty.com says in an article that the CBI findings were used by the former Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to blackmail the Dera chief.
It further says that Baba enjoys immense political clout in the Congress party, and the people who have made allegations against him fear that the CBI may not include its evidence in the charge sheet.
