Ludhiana, July 10 : Unlike most beauty pageants, where the contestants are budding chic girls in their teens and early twenties, Ludhiana recently played host to its maiden 'Mrs. Punjab' contest, featuring married aspirants from across the state.
The Malhaar Art Gallery hosted the event at which contestants, adorned in the traditional outfits, matched professional models in terms of beauty and pizzazz.
Judges at the contest appreciated the spirit and charm of the participants.
Luck, however, smiled on Ludhiana's Pavitra Kaur, when she secured the glittering crown.
The three-hour beauty contest was attended by a cross-section of people, including family members of some of the contestants.
Locals said such events should be encouraged, as it gave women a platform to exhibit both their talent and beauty.
