Kolkata, July 10 : Former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard, who underwent emergency brain surgery after falling ill in India, was discharged from hospital here on Tuesday.
"He has become absolutely normal. He has got back his total memory and he is discharged from the hospital today. And, he is absolutely normal as the health and memory is concerned," said G. K. Prusty, a neurosurgeon at CMRI.
Rocard, 76, fell ill minutes before attending an event organised by the West Bengal Government on June 30 and was immediately rushed to the Calcutta Medical Research Institute (CMRI) Hospital.
A brain scan revealed a blood clot and he was rushed into surgery after a hurriedly called conference with French doctors in Paris.
Rocard is scheduled to leave for France later this week in a special aircraft flown in from Paris.
Rocard, an elder statesman of French centre-left politics, arrived in India last month at the invitation of the State Government.
