Jeypore (Orissa), July 10 : Setting an example for others, a group of foreign volunteers helped clean up a state-run hospital here in an attempt to give it a brand new look.
The volunteers of Ultimate Workout Group of Maranatha Volunteers International (MVI), USA utilised their vacation to clean up a government-run hospital in Jeypore town.
"We paid to come here to work. It's a kind of a vacation. But we wanted to do something to help others instead of spending it doing something for ourselves," said Heidi Hollister, one of the foreign volunteers.
The volunteers scrubbed, swept the floors and gave a new paint to the hospital building during their vacation in India.
"Just try to keep the hospital clean. Because we worked hard and cleaned it... we hope it helps to change other things and motivates others to do good things for others," said James Collins, another volunteer.
The volunteers were assisted by students of a local school, who would continue upkeep of the hospital on a periodical basis.
