Suresh Mehta quits from BJPs primary membership

Former Gujarat Chief Minister Suresh Mehta on Saturday resigned from the primary membership of the BJP, alleging the top leadership of the party of having surrendered before one person, Narendra Modi.

Ahmedabad, Dec 8 : Former Gujarat Chief Minister Suresh Mehta on Saturday resigned from the primary membership of the BJP, alleging the top leadership of the party of having surrendered before one person, Narendra Modi.

Accusing the party leadership for destroying the democratic culture in the party, Mehta said that the BJP has deviated from its own stated principles and ideologies.

"I will continue to campaign in this elections to prevent Narendra Modi from returning back to power," he told reporters after announcing his resignation, and predicted the victory of Congress in the elections.

"Congress will win 111 seats", he said, adding, "By surrendering itself to an autocratic individual (Modi), the party has committed suicide."
