External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet Pakistans Foreign Adviser Inamul Haq here today and will review the status of India-Pakistan composite dialogue.

New Delhi, Dec. 7 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee will meet Pakistan's Foreign Adviser Inamul Haq here today and will review the status of India-Pakistan composite dialogue.

This will be the first high-level meeting between India and Pakistan since the imposition of emergency by President Pervez Musharraf.

Haq is in the Capital to attend the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Council of Ministers meeting beginning from today.

Haq and Mukherjee are expected to have a separate bilateral exchange on the sidelines of the SAARC meeting.

After his arrival here, Haq told reporters that he would discuss with Mukherjee the status of composite dialogue covering issues like Jammu and Kashmir and Siachen.

Haq will also meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh when all the Ministers participating in the meeting call on him.

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Shivshankar Menon said that the two leaders are expected to review the bilateral ties to see how much has been achieved and what more can be done.

The meeting assumes significance as it comes in the midst of a political turmoil in Pakistan.
