Hyderabad, December 6, 2007..... English is the language of international business success in the era of global village. It is the language of self confidence, supremacy, better relationships for coporate executives. Be it in business or career, English is the internationally acclaimed language of communication. It is no longer is just a subject to be learn in an educational institution. It is a powerful business tool most sought after by businessmen acrtoss the globe. It is a skill, skill for life.

With the advant of new technological innovations, the data interchange and interactivity and communication skills have been redefined. In the modern era of globalisaiton, where the job opportunities have become global, the proficiency in English has become imperative in the realm of employment. And in view of the job market in the software industries/MNCs and other industries for an Engineer spread globally, the importance of communication skills both written and spoken in English are stressed to enhance one's job potential said Prof. V. Prakasam, of The English and Foreign Languages University(TEFLU formerly CIEFL) who is also an Advisory Committee Member of 5th International Congress on English Grammer addressing a press conference in city today.

The first of its kind of meet to be held in Andhra Pradesh in January with the theme "Language Engineering and Information Technology" will be participated by about 220 Indain International Delegates from countries like USA, Iran, Austalia, Norway and Hong Kong and others. The six days meet is organised by G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology & Science for Women in association with Systemic Functional Linguistics Association(SFLA), Forum for English Language Teachers(FELT), Coimbatore and English Teachers Forum(ETF).

According to research by the British Council, "English is the main language of books, newspapers, airports and air-traffic control, internationl business and academic conferences, science, technology, diplomacy, sport, International Competitions, pop music and advertising". Over two-thirds of the world's scientists read in English. Three quarters of the world's mail is written in English. Eighty per cent of world's electronically stored information is in English. Of the estiamted forty million users of the Internet, some 80% communicate in English. One out of four of the world's population speak English to some level of competence.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. P. Aparna said the objective of the congress is to make public theoretical and applied studies that can contribute to rethinking the approaches and perspectives on the chosen theme: "Language Engineering and Information Technology". The Congress helps in sharing contemporary studies/research in the area of language studies, which in turn helps in bringing the needed changes. The congress will be attended by IT companies executives, HR professionals, teachers, Engineering and Management Students.

English on the other hand, is spoken around the world. It has been estimated that out of the roughly 6 billion people that are alive today about 350 million speak English.

Hundreds of papers corporate and acedemic interest will be presented by many corporate executives and academicia. Titles of some of these papers include

The Language Classroom in a Connected World; Using the Internet to Promote Extended Learning; "Anglicizing India - Impact of Globalization"; "The Utility Of Professional Communication in the present world of"Information technology"; "Advertising English For Value Addition", "The Newspaper as a Language Acquisition Tool: Looking at Possible "Re-orientations"; "Significance And Methods Of Enhancing Business Communication", "Communication Skills (English) bridging the gap between "science-technology and society" etc will be presented.

English is the ideal language for many governments around the world, and it is also prominent in business, education, world news, and communication. If you wish to be successful in International business, learning English is incredibly important. In many places such as Asia, Africa, and South America, the ability to learn English will determine who will increase their living standards, and who will remain in poverty.

In an era of Internet, if you are not on online you are dead online. If you are not proficient in English you can't reap the rich benefits offered by Internet. Offlate many companies have discovered early in the 21st century that they can cut their costs of production by sending their jobs overseas. The proper term for this is outsourcing, or offshoring. Some companies have also found that they can cut costs by bringing immigrants into the country on work visas. The employees will work for the company for a given period of time, and once their visa has expired, they can return home. All this is possible only if they are proficient in English.
