Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh called on President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.
New Delhi, Dec 4 : Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh called on President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.
During the meeting that lasted for about an hour, Dr Singh discussed about his recent visit to Moscow, Singapore and Uganda. Both the leaders also reviewed recent "national developments", a release issued by the President's Secretariat stated.
In Kampala, the capital of Uganda, Dr Singh attended the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM), where he raised India's concern on matters like climate change, and raised the issue of economic and international trade and strengthening of the good governance.
During his visit, Dr Singh held a string of bilateral meetings with Commonwealth leaders, including British Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
At the CHOGM meeting, the highest point for India was the election of Kamalesh Sharma as the next Secretary General of the Commonwealth nations.
Earlier to his visit to Uganda, Dr Singh attended the 6th India-ASEAN Summit and the 3rd East Asia Summit in Singapore.
On the sidelines of the 6th ASEAN Summit, Dr Singh separately met his Malaysian counterpart Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Japanese counterpart Yasuo Fukuda and his Chinese counterpart Wen Jiabao.
At his meeting with Wen Jiabao, China hinted at supporting India's civilian nuclear programme.
China's response to India's request for support on the Indo-US civil nuclear cooperation agreement has been more positive in this meeting.Earlier in November, Dr Singh visited Moscow to take his summit-level talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin forward.
He invited Putin and Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov to visit India, as both countries are celebrating 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.
Although, the much-awaited comprehensive pact with Russia for a civil nuclear cooperation did not materialise during the summit-level talks between Dr Singh and Putin, but it did not stop the former from thanking Moscow for its 'steadfast support' in supplementing New Delhi's nuclear energy programme.
