Sonebhadra (UP), Dec 30 : The Uttar Pradesh Police on Saturday seized 11 kilogram RDX from Maoists in Sonebhadra District.
Acting on a tip-off, the Uttar Pradesh Police, the Bihar police and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched a combined operation in the Naxal-affected Sonebhadra District.
Though the Maoists managed to escape, the police seized 11 kg RDX, 176 gelatine-sticks, 10 bundles of fuse wire, dry cells and 10 container bombs.
According to S N Sabat, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Vindhya Range), this was the biggest seizure of explosives in Sonebhadra District.
"As soon as we got information that some Maoists were planning an attack, we tactically covered that area and surrounded the place, but the Maoists managed to escape. We seized a large quantity of explosives," said Sabat.
