For Ludhianas dog lover, life turned beautiful by a New Year gift

Kulbir Singh of Khanna-Khori Village in Punjabs Ludhiana District has learnt how sometimes a New Year gift can make a difference in ones life besides offering a reason to smile each morning for years to come.

Ludhiana, Dec.30 : Kulbir Singh of Khanna-Khori Village in Punjab's Ludhiana District has learnt how sometimes a New Year gift can make a difference in one's life besides offering a reason to smile each morning for years to come.

Kulbir, who has 10 dogs of St. Bernard breed in his kennel, takes pride in being their owner as they have earned him kudos from all around. The Albert dog, in particular, gets his special care and affection for earning him laurels.

Albert became Kulbir Singh's pet after it was given to him as a New Year gift by his NRI brother settled in the United States.

According to Kulbir Singh, the 75-kilogram Albert has made several headlines in the U.S by winning prizes at various dog shows. Till date, Albert has participated in at least 42 dog shows and earned appreciation of all.

"This dog costs 15,000 dollars and I have assigned two to three attendants to take care of the dog. It is being served only imported food and given mineral water to quench the thirst. We groom it with utmost care," said Kulbir Singh.

Albert felt a bit uneasy at the tropical climate since it has come from a place where winter means heavy snowfall and the rest of the year it is quite cool. As such Albert's kennel is fully air-conditioned, he added.

Kulbir's kennel has become a major attraction in the neighbourhood.

Kulbir Singh, now in his early forties, is very fond of entering his dogs in various Kennel Club and other dog shows for his pets to win laurels and spread their name far and wide.

Watching Albert's success, Kulbir wishes to get another similar dog from the United States. By Karan Kapoor
