Keshubhai says no false claims made in anti-Modi advertisements

Senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister, Keshubhai Patel has come out in full support of advertisements that have appeared in two local dailies here today calling for a change in the leadership in the State.

Ahmedabad, Dec 3 : Senior BJP leader and former Gujarat Chief Minister, Keshubhai Patel has come out in full support of advertisements that have appeared in two local dailies here today calling for a change in the leadership in the State.

"Whatever is published in the advertisement was not exactly my words, but this is all true," Patel, a known political rival of the incumbent Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, said.

The advertisements were issued by Sardar Patel Utkarsh Samiti, which supports the anti-Modi group within the BJP, and has portrayed the Chief Minister as a dictator.

In these advertisements, Patel is quoted from his earlier speech made against Modi, where he criticises the latter's governance.

"A dictator has taken over power in the State and time has come to bring a change," Patel is quoted, as saying in the advertisements.

The advertisements further go on to state, "After devoting his entire life for the welfare of Gujarat, Keshubhai is sad. He will not campaign for the BJP. He feels that Gujarat is suffering under Modi's regime. Please don't sit at home. Come out and vote for a change."

The first phase for the Gujarat Assembly elections begins on December 11.
