The Divisional Commander of Al-Badr outfit terror outfit, Bilal Afghani, was killed in a joint operation carried out by the Budgam Police and Central Reserve Police Force at Aarth in Beerwah on Monday.
Srinagar, Dec 3 : The Divisional Commander of Al-Badr outfit terror outfit, Bilal Afghani, was killed in a joint operation carried out by the Budgam Police and Central Reserve Police Force at Aarth in Beerwah on Monday.
The operation began on Sunday evening after police received specific information regarding the presence of militants inside a house in the area, which was followed by cordoning off the area.
Bilal Afghani alias Chota Bilal was gunned down in the operation, and large amount of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the site of the encounter.
The Senior Superintendent of Police in Budgam, S A H Bukhari said that Bilal was one of the most wanted militant, and was active in a vast area between Beerwah and Bandipora since last eight years.
Bilal was involved in many attacks on police and security forces besides killings of innocent civilians, including the recent killing of a Tangmarg councillor.
