New Delhi, Dec 27 : Minister of State for External Affairs Anand Sharma today said that the assassination of former Pakistan's Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto is a "blow to the democratic process" in that country.
He said that India is shocked and saddened over Bhutto's "untimely" and "violent" end to her promising political career.
"It happened at time when people in Pakistan were looking up to her," Sharma said, adding that she has a "huge" stature in her country.
He said there were no words to condemn the abominable attack.
He also expressed his condolences to the relatives and supporters of Benazir.
Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Chairperson Bhutto, 54, was assassinated on Thursday during a suicide attack on a party rally in Rawalpindi's Liaquat Bagh area.
