Durgapur (West Bengal), Dec 26 : West Bengal Police today baton charged protestors, including women who were demanding permanent jobs in a factory at Durgapur.
The protest took violent shape when one of the protestors threw a bomb, which compelled the management to call police. Police have also conducted massive raids in the area including the local Trinamul Congress party office. "We have not found anything from the party office. The raid is still on and we have found three fired bombs," said Murlitharan, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Burdwan Range.
About three hundred Trinamul Congress supporters were protesting at the gate of an Oxygen Plant located just outside Durgapur Steel Plant.
